Athletic Director Job Description

Position Title: Athletic Director, Mississauga Minor Basketball (MMBA or Monarchs Basketball)

Position Type: Full-time salaried position with initial three month probationary period

Salary Range: $65 – $80K

Position Summary:

Our busy and growing club needs a highly committed, well-organized Athletic Director to handle program planning and operations with a focus on program quality and efficiency. The Athletic Director  will be responsible for leading all aspects of Monarchs Basketball: program planning and execution, developing and streamlining administrative procedures, resource/gym management, marketing, hiring of part-time coaching staff, and interaction with volunteers and our volunteer Board of Directors. The Athletic Director will oversee all levels of programming (from very young beginners to elite rep players), with an initial emphasis on programs targeted at entry-level players and house leagues. The position will report to the Club President. This position includes medical/dental benefits.

Experience Required:

-Proven management experience in an office environment and in sports administration|
-Familiarity with minor sports club operations and procedures

Education & Skills Required:

-University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Quickbooks
-Working knowledge of accounting, finance and/or accounting experience a plus
-A creative, flexible, positive mindset with a commitment to making improvements to current processes
-Experience with scheduling and budgeting
-Experience in negotiation, conflict management, and the promotion of cooperation is vital
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Excellent time-management skills and an ability to prioritize and multi-task
-Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
-Ability to work flexible hours during program launch periods

Position Detail:

-Manage day-to-day operations of house league and development including oversight of rep programs
-Lead, organize and implement all programs and events
-Manage hiring and oversight of all program staff
-Supervision of office staff (3 FTE) and management of on-boarding of part time coaches (approx. 50 coaches)
-Work with Monarchs head trainer on all elements of program design and implementation
-Monitor program quality to ensure high player retention rates through communication with players, parents, coaches and volunteers
-Carry-out club vision in partnership with the Board of Directors and key club stakeholders
-Manage club programs and resources in accordance with direction provided by the Club President and the Board of Directors
